Depending on your kids age there are different types of museums you could go to. Dinosaur museums, animal exhibits, children museums, or airplane museums, to name a few. Contact your state's website to locate museums near you.

Discovery Gateway is a great place to take kids of all ages, though it is a bit pricey.

The Museum of Ancient Life is Thanksgiving Point's very own dinosaur museum. It is the world's largest display of mounted dinosaurs, as well as some hands on activities for kids of all ages. This too, is a bit pricey, though.
The BYU Bean Museum is located in Provo and has a large collection of animals on display. They have weekly live animal shows, audio tours, and best of all it's FREE!
